the first words i spoke today were in english.
there was this guy, japanese, if you'd like, who spoke to me inside the lift on my way down to the parking lot. he was asking in very polite terms if it was safe to go out and walk on the streets. what with the typhoon and all. it was such an unusual question to be sure, so i was quite flustered for a bit.
i said it was all right, just mind the floods and the strong winds i guess. he said it was his first time to live in the country (in the city?) and was concerned why classes were suspended. i suppose in japan they do that because of much worse conditions, not because of floods. what do i know.
he's probably not even japanese. hehe.
