"Germany's dream of watching their home team raise the golden trophy in triumph ended when Italy not only crashed the party but ate all the food, drank all the champagne and went home with the family silver stuffed up their shirts."

Nothing could be worse than getting spam from someone you know. I've realized though that Im almost grateful when the sender turns out to be my dad or mom. I've asked them for the longest time when they were getting e-mail addresses, especially Pa. Now that they can actually check their inbox unassissted, its just great! Chatting them up on YM is just as great. :) The next project will probably to teach them to upload photos on Flickr, or get them to keep a blog or something, or at least maintain an Amazon wishlist. Hehe.

Bruno Ist Tot!
Fugitive bear Bruno has been shot dead by hunters in the Bavarian Alps. The wild bear, dubbed Bruno by German media, crossed into the country from Italy in May. Authorities originally planned to capture the 100-kilogram animal alive and put it in a nature reserve after it was reported to have killed livestock, but it eluded the traps. Austrian officials finally gave permission to shoot down the animal over the weekend, fearing it may harm humans next.
Here's an online game to try your arm at, err, gaming. There is also a condolence blog (in German) here.

Three bookings for one player, man, that's a whole new ballgame. Hehe. Way to go Poll! Congratulations are in order for the Socceroos. They were really hungry, I saw. Croatia was just as, but Poll was just too infuriated, I think. Maybe at a certain point in the game he realized that he's lost his job. Lotsa yellows this morning. Oh FIFA, whacha gonna do?

If Europe has nothing else to worry about other than Bruno the bear, then it must be a happy place. ~Wolfgang Schuessel

Lucky Negrense. Only people in the Philippines eager to put up a giant screen for a crowd raring to watch the Beautiful Game. By-invitation only, according to a Sun.Star article I read. So far no mention from other papers on similar gatherings in Manila.
Ah those abs. Thanks to Reuters.

Most funny thing. This job. I knew I was getting over my head when I took on this new role. I'm feeling almost like poor Mr. Gecko. An innocent, terrorized lizard with nowhere to run. Its probably just as well that we don't see our resident baby lizard anymore. It seems to me that he's wiser than I am. Shipping out with no one the wiser. And one day, people would just wonder, "Hey, didn't G use to work here?"
Wish. Wish hard. Pray for what you want. How does the saying go again? "Try or die trying"? "Sink or swim"? or is it "Shape up or ship out"? Frankly these are what my friends would say. Any friend. If I still have any, after 5 years of this.
Seriously, right now I've a mind to just "Get the hell out."
It is a most irritating thing. This VoiceOver. I can't turn it off! Command-F5 doesn't work. So does fn. I ended up turning the volume down while I work. So much for wishing that at least Sarah M would be up all night to be with me.

on the way back from the company outing. its like throwing a giant out-of-town party for your officemates. didnt pay for it, but i sure as hell felt like i was the host.
getting there made me miss boracay in october. i know, its a poor comparison. it means it was a really nice venue, by nlp standards of course.
i have never been the host type. in a ship thats what they'd call the captain. its the driver of the car, the teacher in the class, the editor in chief of a newspaper.
i have cultured for years the courage it takes to brave the streets of manila. the time to test if i learned anything to deserve that flcd diplomat has yet to present itself. as being a boss, i am an ojt.
on the other hand, my motoring career has been one scary, decade-long outing.
batangas? it fired off well enough with pekwa and 123 pass, ended with leftovers and lots of cancer for dinner. and that dog that looked like she really digged me haha.
my ojt days will formally end less than a month from now. i have hired the neurotic (quite a character), the heartbroken romantic, and the seriously studious (aka the studiously serious) and they've proved apt for the job, but im losing a trustworthy employee. ive made the deadlines more beatable but at an earthshaking cost. i gained an exciting new edition but lost a truly great one. the five-day workweek is taking ages to implement.
no, the outing did not end well. it just reminded me how so much more needs to get done with so little time left.
david gates is nice to revisit once in awhile, but twice in as many days is asking for - what kermin would say - "jombag."
and for those who actually messaged to tell me to write naman na with your blog again, this is dedicated to you :)
